Heart Health And Clean Arteries- Part 1

One of the most important health issues I stress to my patients is creating, or maintaining, heart health. The best ways to ensure heart health and its all-important job of developing nourishing blood to every part of your body is to prevent plaque buildup and reduced blood flow in arteries. Diet, exercise, lifestyle changes, and certain supplements can work together to accomplish this goal!

In this first of a two-part series, I would like to explain to you a little about what coronary artery disease and blocked arteries can mean. Then well talk about the proactive things you can do to avoid these conditions naturally without drugs or surgery.

Part II will deal with a controversial subject chelation therapy. Chelation methods of detoxing arteries with natural supplements have been an alternative medicine approach to arterial plaque for several years now.

First I would like to give you a little background on coronary artery disease and arterial blockages, how they develop and how you can prevent them with diet, exercise and supplements and cut your risk for heart attack, stroke, drugs and by passes!

Coronary Artery Disease and Blocked Arteries

Many people do not realize they have coronary artery disease, or arterial plaque build-up, until they wind up in an emergency room with an attack of angina (heart pain), or a heart attack! Both can be caused by the arteries of the heart not getting enough blood, usually from plaque buildup.

It was previously thought that a high saturated fat diet was the primary cause of arterial plaque. However, the French Paradox came along and taught us that oxidation has a lot more to do with cholesterol turning into those arterial plaques and blockages.

You see, the French people eat a pretty high saturated fat diet but they also drink a lot of red wine! This led to the discovery of a very important chemical in red wine called resveratrol. This is a powerful anti-oxidant which helps keep cholesterol lipids in blood from oxidizing into those arterial clogging plaques. Cholesterol undergoes oxidation first before it hardens into plaque. Ensuring that we get enough anti-oxidants in our diet to prevent oxidation, then, is key!

Who Is At Risk?

As I tell my patients, there is no hard and fast picture of the person who will develop coronary artery disease. It depends on a few factors such as:

1. Do you eat an unhealthy diet low in vitamins/antioxidants?
2. Do you smoke?
3. Do you exercise regularly?

Prevent Blocked Arteries and Heart Disease

As I advise my patients, keeping your arteries flowing freely with low risk of heart disease involves a three-fold approach on your part. However, that effort will reward you with enough heart health and stamina to live your life to the fullest into old age! Lets look at what this entails:

Diet Arterial disease is not all about how much saturated fat you eat. Although I do recommend limiting saturated animal fat to 25-30 grams a day, I think it more important to prevent these fats from oxidizing and turning into plaque. Diets rich in anti-oxidants and polyphenols help dissolve saturated fats and stop oxidation. These include red wine, green apples, olive oil, oolong/green/white teas, Omega-3 rich nuts, coconut oils, apple cider vinegar. Add high fiber foods like beans, peas, whole grains, to absorb saturated fats and remove them through elimination before they enter the bloodstream as lipids.

Exercise Interval aerobic exercise, walking, running, bicycling, elliptical, stair stepper, treadmill, jumping rope, your choice. Interval exercise is warming up slowly for 10 minutes and then going at your capacity for 1-2 minutes then slowing down to a resting pace for 3 minutes and repeating for a set of 6 intervals. If you havent done aerobic exercise for a long while, do a slower warm-up, and try for half your capacity for 1 minute for 2 weeks. Slowly increase every week and build a higher capacity. This helps your heart adjust to sudden demanding loads. It also builds good HDL and lowers LDL (bad) choleserol and burns body fat. Also, 20 minutes 3 x a week of weight training. This creates muscle and burns fat even at rest.

Supplements 1,000 mg/daily Omega-3 fish and krill oils boost HDL and lower LDL cholesterol; 1-2 gm/daily of Vitamin C builds collagen which strengthens arterial walls. CoQ-10, 100 mg, is a crucial anti-oxidant that works with Vitamin E to attach to LDL cholesterol and prevent oxidation. As we age CoQ10 levels decrease so it is important to supplement them. Other powerful anti-oxidants include resveratrol (found in red wine, dark red grapes and berries), pomegranate juice, and green tea. Niacin (and other B vitamins) is also effective at reducing LDL and boosting HDL cholesterol, 1-3 gm/day. Chelation supplements which contain EDTA, and antioxidants, which well talk about in more detail in Part II.

Smoking Quit! Smokers are at much higher risk of developing arterial plaque because of the toxins in cigarette smoke which contribute to oxidation damage in your body.

There you have the basics of what I recommend to keep your arteries free from obstructing plaques and keep your heart from suffering serious, if not life-threatening, consequences.

Part II of this series on heart health deals with the pros and cons of removing existing arterial plaque from your arteries called chelation therapy which uses ingredients so safe theyre even in baby food! Meet me here next issue and learn about this drugless, surgery-free way to clean arteries and protect your heart!

Nutrition For Preventing Eczema Or Dry Skin

Many people all around the globe are affected by a condition called eczema. Eczema, also commonly known as dermatitis, is characterized by an inflammatory skin reaction that involves reddening of skin, high temperature and itchiness. More serious effects of eczema include affected skin area turning thick, red and sensitive. If situation worsens, skin may also peel off.

Usually, it is an external factor such as allergen that triggers eczema reaction. It could also be caused due to a number of reasons such as improper feeding habits, food allergies, fatigueness, stress, insufficient sleep, genetic sensitivity to allergens, contact with pets and fungal infections, misuse or over use of medications and abuse of alcohol and nicotine. If the conditions due to dermatitis are not given timely treatment, the affected skin region could worsen and may result in the formation of blisters full of pus on the affected skin area. However if eczema occurs owing to the consumption of specific allergic foods such as eggs or nuts, it could be treated with a change of diet. More importantly, it should be borne in the mind that cause of dermatitis may not be possible to determine every time.

However by making some simple diet changes, severity of your eczema breakouts could be avoided. Intake of healthy foods daily would cut down severity of eczema conditions, such as the dryness, itchiness, and swelling of affected skin area. Drinking water throughout the day frequently is very essential to remain hydrated.

Healthy diet is essential for a healthy skin. Drinking juice supplies essential nutrients to the skin. In simple words, consumption of juice provides essential vitamins and minerals to the blood necessary for keeping acne free and dry skin. Also, only juice which is natural and organic should be drunk.

Fruits and vegetables should be a part of the diet as they are rich in nutrients and have powerful antioxidants. The fruits and vegetables help to rejuvenate skin and get rid of all the dryness. Turmeric, apple, papaya, ginger are very useful, and they find a wide range of use in organic skin care routines. More importantly, these organic materials have a very refreshing and vitalizing effect on your skin. The usefulness of both fruits and vegetables could be found in almost every skin care book/guide, especially, in case of organic skin care treatment. Vegetables and fruits rich in Beta Carotene help to protect Vitamin C from oxidation. This prevents symptoms due to Beta Carotene deficiency such as ache, dry dull hair, dry skin and thickened scaly skin on the palms and soles of the feet.

According to some studies, drinking tea not only helps to cleanse the body but it also you helps revitalizing the skin. It was also found that tea also keeps skin from drying out and prevents development of problems related with dermatitis. It also revealed how substances found in tea may help body’s immune system to fight off infection. Additionally, coffee and soda can have a dehydrating effect on the body. Furthermore, green tea can have a wondrous effect on your skin as well.

Besides, eating foods which are fortified with fiber, vitamins and minerals prevent conditions due of eczema or dry skin. In addition, omega 3 oils and foods that include probiotics help in maintaining a healthy skin.

The Practice Of Dental Hygiene To Achieve Oral Health

If you want to smile brightly, the practice of dental hygiene is a must. Having a healthy grin is not an accident. It is achieved only by proper oral care and through that, gum disease, bad breath, cavities or mouth sores can be prevented. Some good methods can be done to maintain clean teeth and a healthy mouth like the ones listed below:

Many dentists recommend flossing done on a daily basis because this method eliminates the debris that may be lodged between the teeth. It is necessary to floss at least once per day, but if you can do twice a day flossing, that’s even better. Should it be done only once daily, do flossing prior to sleeping at night so that the gums and teeth are free from excess plaque.

Brushing twice daily or every after a meal is also a way of getting rid of oral bacteria that can form a bio-film on the teeth and around the gum line. Many dentists say that an electric toothbrush can remove plaque a lot faster than non-electric toothbrush. Make sure that when the bristles are already worn out, the toothbrush gets replaced twice a year so that teeth can be thoroughly cleaned.

Antiseptic mouth rinses are effective in fighting plaque-forming bacteria. Also, the use of fluoride toothpaste and drinking fluoridated water can help in preventing tooth decay in adults and children.

For total oral health, it would be necessary to see a dentist on regular times to get a thorough evaluation. There are small issues that can blow up to bigger oral issues when the symptoms are neglected.

Moreover, a tongue scraper can be used to get rid of tongue bacteria. Teeth can be stained due to beverages such as coffee and tea. Albuquerque teeth whitening procedure can fight the stains.

Do not let dental neglect be the reason why you are having a hard time maintaining the health of the oral cavity. Once your gums get terribly sick, sometimes, there is no healing that can take place anymore. Gums disease like severe periodontitis can cause bad breath, loosening of teeth and a receding of the gums. When afflicted with an oral ailment such as this, you can call Terry Gomez, DDS, an Albuquerque emergency dentist to check on you right away.

Dental Surgery HornsbyFacts to Know about Dental Care

Dental care means keeping teeth and oral soft tissues clean and bacteria-free. Multiple dental problems can arise if you do not take good care of your teeth. These include caries (cavities), gingivitis (sore gums), periodontitis (gum disease), staining and halitosis. Prevention of gum and other oral diseases is entirely dependent on the ability and the motivation of a person to maintain an adequate level of oral hygiene. These problems should be treated as soon as you notice them. Surgical correction of the problem at a Hornsby Dentist surgeryclinic is the only option left if you delay your dental treatment.

The status of your oral hygiene is also linked to systemic diseases. There is evidence that suggests that systemic diseases are more likely to occur in people who do not maintain an adequate level of oral hygiene. These systemic diseases include cardiovascular disorders, e.g., heart attack and stroke, as well as diabetes with its complications, and chest infections.

Halitosis, the scientific term for bad breath, is another important dental issue affecting many people. It is an unpleasant odor in exhaled breath which can result from poor dental care habits. It may also reflect other health problems such as chronic sinus infections, chronic acid reflux, disorders in the nasal cavity, pneumonia, bronchitis, and liver and kidney problems. Halitosis can be prevented by practicing good dental care to avoid buildup of harmful bacteria on teeth, gums, and tongue. Thoroughly brush your teeth twice a day. Use dental floss and other interdental aids to remove the plaque from areas which are not easily accessible to aregular toothbrush.

Research has proven that eating habits have a direct effect on your oral health status. Sugar-rich and acidic foods are the main factors that cause dental caries. So, limit the amount of sugar and acids in your diet. Limit the number of snacks between meals. Add foods rich in fluoride; vitamins A, C and D; calcium, and phosphate. People with a fluoride deficit are at a higher risk of developing cavities. Scurvy is a gum disease that is a direct resultof vitamin C deficiency.

Oral cancer is a fatal disease affecting thousands of people each year globally. According to the World Health Organization, it is the 11thmost prevalent cancer in the world. In Australia, incidence of oral cancer is higher in men than women. It may affect any oral structure, such as the lips, gums, cheeks, tongue, floor of the mouth, or throat. Risk factors include age, smoking, alcoholism, excessive sunlight, genetic predisposition, nutritional deficiencies, viral infections, and snuff, ghutka and betel quid use. Screening for oral cancer is considered to be an integral part of routine dental checkups. Seek immediateadvice of a qualified dental surgeon at theDentist Hornsbyif you notice any unusual soreness, mark, or ulcer in your mouth, face or neck that does not heal in 2 weeks. Early diagnosis and treatment of oral cancer improves the prognosis.

Famous Fictional Markets

Markets are the backbone of the United Kingdom. They spring up all across the week, selling a range of goods; from the fresh and tasty produce that can be reaped from farmers market; to the one mans junk is another mans treasure of the weekend clothes market; wholesale and bulk markets for retailers outsize quaint little village markets catered to locals. Britain loves a good market – so much so that we have even invented fictional ones.

Below are listed some of our most famous:

Walford Market Based in fictional Walford, where our favourite Eastenders reside, Walford market is the central part to the daily goings on in Albert Square. Mainly selling tat and clothes, the market has been in existence since the first 1985 episode; with some of its most well-liked characters running stalls there. From Pete Beales fruit and veg operation to Mos junky clothes stand.

Goblin Market As depicted by Christina Rossetti in her 19th century poem of the same name. Goblin Market is the place of sprites and fairies. Selling delicious fruits in abundance, forbidden to humans, cries of traders from the market attracts two sisters who find themselves in terrible trouble after sampling the delicious forbidden fruits. Rossetti really conjures the look and smell of this nocturnal market in her wonderful poem.

Albion Market- Albion market was the name and location of a short-lived soap in the 1980s. It centred on a market in Salford, Greater Manchester and was intended as an add-on to the ever popular Coronation Street. Launched in the same year as Eastenders, TV producers were confident that its link to Coronation Street would ensure that it did well; unfortunately they were wrong, after just 100 episodes Albion Market closed forever.

Del Boy Despite the fact that Del Boy is not a market and Sheppards Bush market where he allegedly illegally trades is certainly a living breathing market, Del Boy deserves a mention. The stereotype of a cockney market trader, he can wheel and deal anything, and his inclusion in the legendary British comedy Only Fools and Horses is said to have made the show, and British comedy. Played by David Jason to comic precision, writer John Sullivan based the character on the unlicensed traders who sold goods from suitcases, and had always fascinated him at the local market.

Diagon Alley, Harry Potter Leadenhall Market in London is the real life location of the alleyways of magic shops and hostelries made famous in Harry Potter. Although it is a series of shops in jumbled buildings, the customers, layout and bartering of Diagon Alley give it more of a market feel. Famous magic stores and businesses in the alley include: Eeylops Owl Emporium, Flourish and Bolts Magic book Shop, Gringotts Wizarding Bank, Madam Malkins Robes, Potages Cauldron Supplies and a number of small stall selling everything from magic sweets, to spell inclusions. Diagon Alley is invisible to Muggles, and can be reached through the Leaky Cauldron, an alehouse somewhere along Charing Cross Road between a bookshop and a record store Im still looking!

Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy, and Plant Spirit Shamanism,

Listening to the Plants Nature is Talking to us.

The shamans say that plants connect us with nature because they take their nourishment directly from the earth, as well as the sun’s rays, the air, and water. They allow us to know and recognize ourselves. A shaman must know this and must love his people to heal them. Here are just a few of the plant healers.

Jergon Sacha (Dracontium peruviuanum)

My first exposure to this plant came about quite accidentally, when one day walking through the rainforest studying the properties of the plants, the maestro Javier queried why I always walked around with a machete. I jokingly replied it’s against anacondas!. He paused in thought for a moment and beckoned for me to follow him, a few minutes later we came across this tall stemmed plant. He proceeded to cut it down and then whip me around the body paying attention to my legs and the soles of my feet.. He then said no more problems, you are protected against snakes. I asked him why this plant was used in this way, and he indicated the pattern on the stem which looks identical to the snakes in the forest. Later as I started to investigate this plant even more, I discovered some interesting correspondences; this is a plant which is widely used as an antidote against snake bite venom in the Amazon.

This is accordance with the doctrine of signatures’ concept. This doctrine is at the heart of homeopathy, folk medicine, and plant shamanism. The doctrine was revealed by the great alchemist and physician Paracelus who lived in the 16th Century. The underlying principle was that the healing properties of the plant are not only in the outer physical’ form, but also in their inner or spiritual nature. The Doctrine of Signatures holds that this inner nature can be revealed by it’s outer physical form or signatures. This plant is a clear demonstration of the outer form indicating the inner qualities. It’s use is directly related to it’s physical appearance, the patterns on the tall stem closely resembles the skin patterns of the highly venomous pit viper known as Bushmaster’ or Jararaca which is indigenous to the Amazon.

The large tuber of the plant is an well known and highly effective antidote for the bite of venomous snakes. The tuber is chopped up, and immersed in cold water and then drunk. Also the chopped tuber is placed in a banana leaf and used as a poultice which is wrapped around the bite area. These procedures are repeated every few hours. Of course the deal here is that it works, and as it not possible to store anti-venom vaccines in the rainforest without refrigeration, this plant has exceptional life-saving importance.

Mocura / Mucura Petivera Alliacea. This plant can be taken orally or used in floral baths to raise energy, or take you out of a saladera (a run of bad luck, inertia, sense of not living to the full). Gives mental strength and you can feel its effects as also with Ajo Sacha, both are varieties of false’ garlic and have a penetrating aroma.

One of it’s qualities is that on a personal psychological level it can boost one’s strength. For example it is considered good in countering shyness, and can strengthen one’s own sense of personal value and authority. One of it’s properties is to help people overcome irrational’ fears & fearful memories

Medicinal properties include asthma, bronchitis, reduction of fat and cholesterol. This plant grows widely in the lower Amazon, and it is used widely in purification (floral baths) .

Pion Colorado Jatropha gossypifoilio

Has short lived effect after drinking but helps lucid dreaming later on when you go to bed. Can be used as a planta maestra and it is a plant that maestros can take when being during their initiation. Can also take with tobacco.

The plant’s properties on the physical level relate to problems such as, burns, swellings, intestinal parasites , Insect bites and stings, vaginal infections, and bronchitis. It is possible to take the resin which is much stronger but toxic if too much ingested. The resin can be applied directly to the skin.

Piri-piri, (Cyperaceae). Native people throughout the Amazon cultivate numerous varieties of medicinal sedges to treat a wide range of health problems, the native peoples for example, use sedge roots to treat headaches, fevers, cramps, dysentery and wounds as well as to ease childbirth. Special sedge varieties are cultivated by Shipiba women to improve their skill weaving and to protect their babies from illness.

Teresa a Shipiba craftswoman who joins us on our Amazon Retreats, told me that it is customary when the girls are very young for their mothers to squeeze a few drops of the piri piri’ seed sap into their eyes in order to give their daughters the ability to have visions of the designs that she will make throughout her life.

The men cultivate special sedges to improve their hunting. Since the plant is used for such a wide range of conditions, it was once dismissed as being mere superstition. Pharmacological research has revealed the presence of ergot alkaloids, which are known to have diverse effects on the body from stimulation of the nervous system to constriction of blood vessels. These alkaloids are responsible for the wide range of medicinal uses. Apparently the ergot alkaloids come not from the plant itself but from a fungus that infects the plant.

Chanca piedra Stone Breaker (Phyllanthus Niruri)

This is a hybrid name chanca meaning to break in Quechua and piedra meaning stone in Spanish. This herb from the Amazon has been used by the indigenous peoples of the Rainforest for generations as an effective remedy to eliminate gall, and kidney stones. The plant has demonstrated its effectiveness against many illnesses including, kidney problems , urinary problems, colic, dysentery, jaundice and numerous other conditions. This herb has become widely used in South America as the herbal remedy for gall and kidney stones, and can typically be bought in capsule or leaf form from many stores. This plant is used only for its pharmaceutical properties, and is not a planta maestra. As a note, this plant is also starting to become known in Western Medical circles, as when I brought some back for my mother to help her with her kidney stones, her doctor was apparently familiar with this herb, but he still didn’t want her to use it due to possible contra-indications with the prescribed pharmaceutical medicine.

Reflections.

On reflection plant medicine is totally different than pharmaceutical medication which only affects one whilst it is being taken; these kinds of plant medicines seem to have a permanent effect in some way metaphorical or otherwise altering one’s consciousness or “DNA”. Paracelus, is still a source of inspiration to all those who work with the healing properties of herbs, and the plants.

One of the great revelations that we can experience in working with the plant spirit or consciousness is that we are not separate from the natural world. In our culture we perceive ourselves to be separate beings with our minds firmly embedded within our physical being (typically our head). The plants can show you that this way of being is an illusion and that we are all connected, all of us and everything else is a discrete element in the great universal field of consciousness or spirit.

The Natural Path to Preventative Medicine

The prohibitive costs associated with health and medical care are one of the main causes of the health care crisis we are experiencing today. Fewer people are able to afford something as basic as a visit to the doctor for a routine checkup, much less a more serious visit that might result in being admitted to the hospital for a length of time. Many Prescription medications are so expensive that elderly patients are forced to ration them and at times even choose which ones they need the most when they cannot afford to pay for everything that is prescribed. This catch-22 creates a boomerang effect that lowers recovery moral and often depletes wellness optimism that is needed for recovery and symptom management.

As I tried to find a way out of this dilemma; for my own good as well as the good of my family, a friend suggested that I acknowledge I was on the traditional heath treadmill and explore other healing avenues. He suggested I check out the DVD series offered by The Center for Healing Arts. Facilitated by healing arts experts who are carefully chosen for their knowledge and experience in their chosen field of study, this DVD series offers you an in-depth look into the world of holistic medicine and helps you unravel its many mysteries.

Preventative Medicine to the Rescue

Over the past 20 years or so, the idea of preventative medicine has gained momentum among people who are -sick and tired of being sick and tired-. The concept makes perfect sense if you think about it – take proper care of yourself before you get sick. If you take steps to prevent illness, your body is much less likely to be susceptible to whatever communicable disease happens to be going around the office at any given time. The old adage about an ounce of prevention being worth more than a pound of cure has found new relevance in today’s economy.

Prevention Takes Action

Preventative medicine can be as simple as increasing your activity level by walking a few times a week or as in-depth as joining a gym. Here are a few other tips that can go a long way toward preventing poor health:

Stop smoking – No excuses; everybody knows it’s bad for health and that it can lead to cancer, heart and lung disease. Smoking affects more than just the person who smokes; it also affects those around you so think about your family, friends and co-workers when you are debating whether to give it up or not.

Cut the Sugar – According to The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates, the average American consumes about 20 teaspoons of sugar every day. Most people take in much of that sugar without even realizing it. If you are one of those who are shaking their heads in doubt, allow me to point out that can of soda on your desk – it contains about 9 teaspoons of sugar in just 12 ounces.

Eat More Color -Have you ever noticed that most comfort foods are brown? One simple way to help your body help itself is by consuming more fruits and vegetables – preferably in their raw state whenever possible. Nature has provided these gems of good health and filled them full of vitamins and nutrients, especially when they aren’t overcooked, over salted or over sweetened.

Wash your hands – It sounds like common sense because it is. We were all raised to wash our hands before meals and after using the restroom and this simple action alone can curb the spread of the viruses that cause colds and flu.

The Bottom Line

Preventative medicine means learning how what you are doing now can affect your health later. Holistic therapy embraces this idea to the fullest. Holism is based on the concept that mind, body and spirit should all work together harmoniously, that when one of the three are out of balance, the whole being suffers. The many therapies that fall under the heading of holism can be confusing to a beginner, but by learning more about these powerful health care practices it is possible to learn to take better care of your whole self before you find yourself in a health crisis.

Carefully Selected Diets Lower Cholesterol and Reduce Heart Disease!

A search of the biomedical research papers at the U.S. National Library of Medicine reveals that there are almost 200,000 papers on the subject of cholesterol. A common conclusion in many of them is that carefully selected food choices and diets lower cholesterol levels. Conversely the wrong choice of foods can have the opposite effect of increasing cholesterol levels, and therefore increasing the risk of heart disease and stroke.

In the USA alone with 800,000 deaths each year (i.e. over 90 every hour) attributed to diseased arteries, and one-third of the population having elevated cholesterol levels it is a major problem that should be of concern to everyone. In addition to this, our country’s levels of weight problems, obesity and diabetes have never been higher than they are today. There are a few factors that all these unhealthy conditions have in common and that will fuel these conditions, as follows:

excess consumption of fats
excess consumption of salt
excess consumption of sugar
sedentary lifestyle
excess consumption of refined, and processed, and convenience foods
insufficient consumption of fruits, vegetables and fiber

So whether your particular health challenge is excess cholesterol, overweight, vascular disease, heart disease, diabetes, or stroke it is likely caused by a combination of one or more of the above factors. And what should be obvious to you is that all of these unhealthy conditions are due to lifestyle choices, and are avoidable if we make different choices.

If you don’t yet have any indications of these types of health problems, but your lifestyle typically is in keeping with the above factors, then the risk of you heading down this unhealthy path at some time in the future is very high.

This is not meant to be scare-mongering. If you were to take the time to look through the many research papers I mentioned above you would quickly come to the same conclusion. Most people do not have the time to do that investigation to come to that realization, and perhaps unfortunately for you neither does your doctor.

Society is founded on the flow of economic wealth. There are many people and organizations with vested economic interests in maintaining the status quo in order to protect their economic position. That can mean encouraging us to consume the more economically profitable foods. It can also mean for some health workers that having a healthier clientele may result in earning less money. The end result is that you may not necessarily be fed the right things. By fed I mean in both of its meanings – food and information.

There is no doubt that the right food choices and diets lower cholesterol levels. Not only that but such diets have the added advantage of minimizing all of those other unhealthy conditions I mentioned above. Knowing exactly what to include and exclude in your diet is not difficult.

It simply requires a little more knowledge which is the focus of other articles I have written on this subject. As a general principle if you take note of the guide I mentioned above you will be well on the right track.

Ways To Get Rid Of Eczema And Get Your Clear

The symptoms of eczema include redness, itching, cracking, blistering, oozing, or bleeding. Most cruel of all is the itching. Although there are many prescription treatments available for this disease, most of them only treat the symptoms, and don’t actually cure the condition completely.

Ayurveda: Ayurveda is another ancient medical technique widely practiced in India. One practice that is advocated is to eat 10 neem leaves with water every morning. If neem leaves are rare to get, it may be worth considering neem capsules.

By getting rid of acidity in your digestion system, you can also control the eczema skin condition. You can use natural kelp supplement to reduce acid levels. This is the best way to ensure that you treat eczema from inside.

And there are eczema home remedies that can help keep you skin moisturized. Taking warm showers and baths can keep you from drying out. Stay away from bathing with cold water. Use fragrance-free, lotions and creams. And stop using them if they start to irritate you.

Cotton Clothes: by wearing cotton clothes you will drastically reduce eczema itchiness and irritation, cotton is a very smooth, soft and itchy free material. Studies show that cotton molecules upon direct contact with an eczema skin drastically reduce its 2 most annoying symptoms: irritation and itchiness.

Go Lukewarm: Use lukewarm water for bathing rather than hot or cold water in order to get rid of eczema. Extreme temperatures tend to promote skin itching. Carefully use a fragrance free soap that’s fat or oil based. Use a non abrasive towel for wiping the skin dry.

Lastly, you can use a humidifier to get rid of eczema. Hot or low temperature will cause the eczema to aggravate. This kind of condition will make the eczema itchier and dryer. There are cheap portable humidifiers that you can buy in hardware stores.

Vitamin E oil is the most common natural method of curing eczema. Vitamin E has anti-oxidant properties which help in healing and hydrating the skin. Besides, vitamin A helps to cure eczema by boosting the immune system. Vitamin B2 oxygenates the skin and repairs the tissues, leading to a healthy skin. Vitamin B3 is essential for absorbing carbohydrates in order to maintain a healthy skin. Vitamin C is a natural anti-histamine and an immune booster. It regulates histamine in the body without inducing harmful effects. Since, vitamin C cannot be stored in the body, you need to supply it daily through vitamin C rich foods.

Natural Eczema Treatment – Emu Oil

The emu oil eczema ointment is one of the latest developments in the eczema treatment industry. Surprisingly, it has long been used by the aborigines of Australia as a treatment for many conditions pertaining to the skin and its underlying structures such as the muscle and bone. And if it weren’t for the recent studies made by Australian doctors, the validity of the emu oil as an eczema treatment will not have been proven.

The emu bird is a fast running ratite bird that is native to Australia. Birds belonging to the ratite species have flat breast bones and are mostly flightless because of their underdeveloped wings. Emu birds are smaller than ostriches which are also ratites. Scientifically named as Dromaius Novaehollandiae, their fats constitute the emu oil utilized in emu oil eczema ointments.

History tells us that Australian aborigines have been using emu oil for more than forty thousand years for medicinal purposes. While the aborigines of Australia hunted down the Emu birds for their meat, they also made use of their fat for the relief of minor body aches and faster healing of wounds. They also used emu fat to treat burns and bruises as well as protect their skin from the sun’s heat.

There were many ways that Australian aborigines derived emu oil from the fat of emu birds. Today’s Australian aborigines found in Wiluna, Australia revealed that they would hang the skin of an emu bird on a tree, and gather the oil that drips from the fat attached to the skin. Sometimes, they would also wrap the bird of the emu skin directly on the affected individual. Either way, the sun’s heat was the catalyst in liquefying the emu fat so that it could be better absorbed by the skin in the form of emu oil.

Interested in the use of emu oil by Australian aborigines, local doctors Peter Ghosh and Michael Whitehouse decided to conduct a study to determine the effects of emu oil on arthritis, an inflammatory condition which affects joints. Dr. Peter Ghosh was then the head of Raymond Purves Bone And Joint Research Laboratories, a professor at the University of Sydney, and a doctor of the Royal North Shore Hospital Of Sydney. Dr. Michael Whitehouse also had a remarkable standing as the head of the Department of Pathology in the University of Adelaide. By 1993, the study was posted on the Australian post with the conclusion that emu oil had a significant anti inflammatory effect and was useful against rheumatism. This study then jumpstarted numerous studies on the emu oil which only proved its role in fighting inflammation furthermore.

Like rheumatoid arthritis,an eczema rash is also an inflammatory condition. Only, the eczema rash is limited to the skin because it is an inflammatory skin condition. Because of that, it was theorized that the emu oil can also be used against eczema and thus emu oil eczema ointments were developed.

While there are not any studies which prove whether or not emu oil eczema ointment is able to treat eczema, the Omega fatty acids found in it have already been established to effective in the alleviation of eczema rashes and other inflammatory conditions throughout the body – including the prevention of a heart attack and the lowering of blood pressure. Predecessors to the emu oil eczema ointment such as Evening Primrose oil and fish oil have undergone studies that are specifically targeted against eczema and were found to effectively reduce eczema rash with continued supplementation. These oils happen to have the same Omega fatty acids found in an emu eczema ointment and are namely linoleic acid and linolenic acid. But the emu eczema ointment does have the advantage of having an additional Omega fatty acid which is not found in Evening Primrose oil or fish oil and that is oleic acid.
